| Recently, majority of my bros got jobs in some surveying firms. Congrats first! Some of em enjoy their jobs very much in terms of salary, job functions, work location etc, while some of em are quite sad about the fact that they cannot open the HKIS log book due to job function restriction. What I always hear from my bros is a dept. called Mortgage Valuation Dept. Instead of serving real valuation function, the job functions of its staffs in this dept are presumably site-visiting, photo taking and editing so-called valuation report under aid of the template. This dept. is the most disastrous dept in GP surveying so far as to my knowledge. It sounds really great, indeed very sucks. The reason why I comment so is that this dept. is always flooded with those non-degree holders full-time staff. Being a dept in a professional firm, it should have all its staff being professional or potentially professional for the sake of having a professional corporate image. Whether the same job function can be served by a form 5 graduate or a degree holder is not of the utmost importance, the professional image should be well maintained by all range of its staff being degree holder. Yet, I don't mean degree holders are necessarily more knowledgeable than non-degree holder. Image is the most crucial to attract the potential clients. From my bros, I heard that many non-degree holder full-time staff do not have an ambition to get themselves chartered. With less chartered staff, the corporate profile would probably be ruined. Just like those banks, those graduates from renowned universities are employed to busy with the powerpoint presentations (or more professionally, pitching). I m sure that even local graduates can handle powerpoint well, but why the banks need to employ those from Wharton, Yale, etc.? Just to keep the bank image being professional. |
